Rainy Season Reprieve

August 4, 2011 § Leave a comment

It has rained nearly every day over the last two weeks (thank you, Thai rainy season). Fortunately for me and the pomegranate trees, the shy sun decided to make an appearance yesterday and I had the pleasure of running under clear evening skies. There is something quite invigorating about running in Thailand at dusk. Take last night, for example: the fruit trees, of which there are many, left the air smelling clean and sweet. The local temple, lit up and golden and magnificent, illuminated tall palms along the horizon. The waxing moon, ornamented with several star clusters, was crisply visible even while hanging behind a sheer veil of cirrus clouds. This sensory euphony made my 5 mile training run go quickly– shin splints aside!
